Solbone Gorge development, and subtitles

I've released an update for the game today so subtitles are now here for those hard of hearing, and people who couldn't understand the dialogue through all the spoopy voice editing.

In addition to this my pumpkin NPCs had a problem with their vine legs where I did a goof by accidentally having their normals flipped. This has now been fixed.

The character controller I used had an issue where jumping while playing on "very low/low" Unity graphical quality settings would be incredibly slow. This was caused due to Unity's v-sync with those options. I've changed those settings so jumping is now working properly for all settings, and this was achieved by having the game run at the player's monitor refresh rate.

During an early build of the abattoir entrance I wanted to have a grated vent where the pigs would be dropped down by the pumpkin folk. Due to time constraints, and a lack of animations, I abandoned this concept and decided to add some visual spice to the vent by adding a small light below it. This had the problem of players being too inquisitive by this now-useless vent, believing the light was inviting them to explore it, and they spent time trying to creep inside. I have now added a bunch of vines to block this vent so players don't mistakenly believe they can crawl inside. Also changed the light to green to match the colour of the plants.  It has been very useful watching let's plays of Solbone Gorge, as it allowed me to view where players would focus their attention.

About the game's development:

Solbone Gorge is my very first attempt at making a game, and was created in a period of 1 month by myself for the Haunted PS1 Summer Spooks game jam. It was developed in Unity 2019 (including PlayMaker, FPS All-In-One, and Volumetric Light Beams addons), using assets created with Blender, Krita, and Substance Painter. All of the models and textures were made by myself, with anything not done by me being listed in the credits section above.
